Photoshop Session 3: Silhouettes

This session we were taught about the general functions of concept artists and what can be expected from them, but also what techniques a concept artist could employ to note down there artistic ideas quickly and to great success. One such technique was to simply block out your concepts in silhouettes, making between 3-6 designs within an hour or two and choosing the 3 you found most interesting and detail them in greyscale and shading.

So that is what we did, we did our own silhouettes of Crustacean creatures and this image is what I managed to achieve. At the beginning it was going rather well but then when it came to grey scaling my first silhouette I hadn't had enough experience to shade hime well/properly so that was not a great outcome. However y second silhouette crustacean I think turned out rather well, it was based on Lobsters and crabs but I made it humanoid, and with my improved ability now I reckon I may be able to greyscale him out rather well but on a whole these were not the best creations.
