Maya Session 5: Texturing the base of the Turret

This sessions goal was to teach us how to create a polygon/object look highly detailed but without adding any new polygons to the object but instead through the use of texturing and baking.

This was the original model provided to us, first off we had to save the file as OBJ so that we could use it in conjunction with Xnormals.

The Xnormals created a flat template of the model and from which we baked onto the OBJ model through Xnormals.

The result was a new template we could use which gave the impression of detail however it was completely 2D.

We then started to paint/texture the template in Photoshop which translated directly onto the model in Maya.

And this was my result of our session. I thoroughly enjoyed this session and I like my outcome in the textures i managed to find and use.
